what it’s like to work with me

my approach

Voice is a core part of acting. The shapes of the body directly impact an actor’s voice, as emotion shapes breath and voicing. My goal is to help actors integrate their voice into their approach to acting.

As a dialect coach, I have trained in Knight-Thompson Speechwork, an inclusive and skills-based speech training system for actors from all backgrounds that emphasises close listening to speech sounds for accent and dialect work. I hold an MFA in Voice Studies with Distinction from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, where I specialised in dialect and voice over work.

A coaching session with me is equal parts technique and play. I want you to integrate all the technique with a fully embodied performance, and leave a session knowing exactly what to work on.

My own work as an audiobook narrator keeps my coaching practical: I use these skills, every day, under the pressure of deadlines. My work has been nominated for three Audie Awards and won eight AudioFile Earphones Awards across Australian, American, British and South African dialects. I'm a member of SAG-AFTRA, VASTA, and NAVA (the National Association of Voice Actors).
